Meet The Candidates

Gaither Pennington - Candidate for Secretary

From Gaither's Candidate Biography & Qualifications for Office form:

My involvement in gay rodeo began in 1990 when I attended my first gay rodeo in Phoenix, Arizona. I am a Charter Member of ASGRA and served as a member of its Board of Directors from the Association's founding in 1992 until 2006. My service on the Board included 2 terms as Entertainment Chairman, 3 terms as Association Secretary and 3 terms as the Association's President. I have likewise been active as a member of IGRA, serving 3 terms as the IGRA Dance Chairman and participating in 6 IGRA Conventions as an ASGRA Delegate. In 1996, I was honored with the IGRA Directors Award "for special recognition for the contributions of time and effort to the benefit of the International Gay Rodeo Association."

David Kersey - Candidate for Secretary

From David's Candidate Biography & Qualifications for Office form:

A fourth generation Florida "Cracker" (cowboy), I grew up on a Cattle Ranch in East Manatee County. Working cattle and horses since old enough to walk, I have participated in multiple rodeo circuits, including the Florida High School Rodeo Circuit and Ranch Rodeo Circuit. Additionally, I was part of the Manatee County Sheriff's Mounted Posse.

My professional career path has lead me on two different but intertwining paths at the same time. For 24 years, I was with GTE/Verizon as well as being an Auxiliary Law Enforcement Officer Lieutenant. Both of these careers required me to keep detailed accurate records and provide reports in a quick and timely manner. Furthermore, I was required to work with the public face to face, telephone and Internet.

I have been a member of FGRA since 2007 and have assisted in multiple events.

Currently, I own Pool Partners of Southwest Florida. Being a business owner allows me the time flexibility that would be required of the position and look forward to giving FGRA 200%.

We'll post the other Biography & Qualifications forms when they're available.
